Anne Burrell
Anne W. Burrell (born August 25, 1949) is an American TV chef who is a popular personality. She also was an instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education. Anne W. Burrell is the host on Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network, as well as co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, a Food Network host with spiky blond wigs and a pumped-up appearance, shares tips on how to cook restaurant-style dishes in your home with simple techniques. Chef Burrell is also a part of many of the best eateries within New York, studied the cuisine and culture of Italy, and battled on Food Network's Iron Chef America. As a child in the upper reaches of New York area, Chef Burrell discovered a love for food and cooking early on. The Culinary Institute of America was the next step after she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Communication at Canisius College Buffalo NY. She says "I loved being a Culinary Institute of America (CIA) student. I was awed by every moment." It was difficult to master, do or work enough. Following graduation, Burrell spent one year in Italy studying at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners as well as working at the Umbrian restaurant La Taverna del Lupo as well as Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, an Michelin-starred restaurant. It was during this time that her experience in Italy helped her to understand and appreciate Italian tradition and philosophy, and this has left an impact on her own perception of food. Burrell serves on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board that brightens up the lives of children who are struggling. Additionally, she is a Juvenile diabetes Research Foundation celebrity advocate in which she has a mission to raise awareness for young diabetics. As a speaker, Burrell travels across the nation to talk about her love of food and her culinary career. Anne was always grateful that she was able to share her passion of sharing her cooking skills with other people.
